چکیده

A multi-level model, that provides a hierarchically structured description of a complex, multi-scale limb system is proposed in this paper for predicting and analyzing movement patters generated by various activation signals. The levels, the sub-models on each level and their interconnections are developed and described following a systematic modelling procedure. The computational properties (degree of freedom and differential index) of the developed model have been analyzed and a sub-model has been transformed to meet the index-one requirement for solving the resulting differential algebraic equation (DAE) model by standard methods implemented in MATLAB. The model is extensively verified against engineering expectations using parameter values found in the literature, and a good agreement was found. Parameter sensitivity analysis has also been performed. Copyright c ©2005 IFAC

A structured approach for the engineering of biochemical network models, illustrated for signalling pathways

Quantitative models of biochemical networks (signal transduction cascades, metabolic pathways, gene regulatory circuits) are a central component of modern systems biology. Building and managing these complex models is a major challenge that can benefit from the application of formal methods adopted from theoretical computing science. Here we provide a general introduction to the field of formal...

Modelling modal gating of ion channels with hierarchical Markov models

Many ion channels spontaneously switch between different levels of activity. Although this behaviour known as modal gating has been observed for a long time it is currently not well understood. Despite the fact that appropriately representing activity changes is essential for accurately capturing time course data from ion channels, systematic approaches for modelling modal gating are currently ...

Intelligent Power Control of Green Building-Integrated of Fuel Cell and Plug-in Electric Vehicle in Smart Distribution Systems

The renewable energy sources and plug-in electric vehicles (PEVs) are becoming very popular because of the combination of high fuel costs and concerns about emission issues. This paper presents modelling and control of a Building Integrated Fuel Cell and Plug-in Electric Vehicles (BIFC-PEV) in smart distribution systems. In BIFC-PEV system, conventional building elements could be replaced by sp...

Building Design Support by Hierarchical Expert Networks

For building design, computational intelligence systems use a knowledge base formed by means of neural network and fuzzy logic (neuro-fuzzy) techniques, from a building design database. The application of such a system to a building design task was preliminarily demonstrated earlier. The present research describes a systematic neural fuzzy modelling of data that forms a knowledge base in a hier...

Fuzzy Hierarchical Location-Allocation Models for Congested Systems

There exist various service systems that have hierarchical structure. In hierarchical service networks, facilities at different levels provide different types of services. For example, in health care systems, general centers provide low-level services such as primary health care services, while the specialized hospitals provide high-level services. Because of demand congestion in service networ...
